About these day of the dead patterns
Dia de los Muertos is one of the few traditions that is already designed for this craft: symmetrical, heavily patterned, and built on flat blocks of strong colour. Marigold orange and magenta against black aida is about as close as counted cross stitch gets to glowing.
These are picture patterns with no lettering, so nothing is lost in translation and nothing depends on reading English. A sugar skull, a Catrina in her flowered hat, an arch of marigolds — each one centred and framed to hang.
Whole cross stitch throughout: no backstitch, no fractional stitches, no french knots. Every square carries a symbol as well as a colour, so the chart still works printed in black and white, and the floss key lists each DMC shade with how many skeins it takes.
What you get
- A counted cross stitch chart with a symbol in every square, so it prints on a black and white printer.
- A floss key naming real DMC shade numbers, with how many skeins of each to buy.
- Finished sizes worked out for 14, 16 and 18-count aida.
- Whole cross stitch only — no backstitch, no fractional stitches, no french knots.
- A PDF you download the moment you pay. Nothing is posted to you.
Questions about day of the dead patterns
- Are these day of the dead cross stitch patterns suitable for a beginner?
- Yes. Every chart in this collection is whole cross stitch only — no backstitch, no quarter or three-quarter stitches and no french knots. If you can sew one X over one square of aida you can finish any of them. The smaller ones run around a hundred stitches square, which is an evening or two.
- What is included in the day of the dead pattern download?
- A PDF the moment you pay: the colour chart, the same chart again in black and white symbols so it prints legibly on any printer, a floss key naming real DMC shade numbers with how many skeins to buy, and the finished size worked out for 14, 16 and 18-count aida.
- Do you post anything, or is it digital only?
- Digital only. No fabric, floss or hoop is included and nothing is shipped. The download link does not expire, so the file stays available whenever you want it again.
- Can I stitch these day of the dead patterns to sell?
- You can stitch them for yourself and as gifts. The pattern itself stays ours — please do not resell, share or redistribute the PDF or the chart.
