About these witchy patterns
Everything on this shelf is a picture rather than a saying: an animal skull framed by flowers, a tree of life ringed in knotwork, a hare under hawthorn. They are drawn to be worked on black aida, which is why the colour looks the way it does — rich oranges, rusts and greens read very differently against black than they do against white, and the dark is doing half the work.
The arrangement is deliberate too. A symmetrical design centred in the frame is far easier to count and far easier to hang, and it is what this corner of the craft has always done, from samplers to Celtic knotwork. Nothing here needs backstitch to make sense.

- Yes. Every chart in this collection is whole cross stitch only — no backstitch, no quarter or three-quarter stitches and no french knots. If you can sew one X over one square of aida you can finish any of them. The smaller ones run around a hundred stitches square, which is an evening or two.
